Summer Internship

Hey Guys! Wow, I haven't blogged in quite some time. Now's as good a time as ever to start up again since it's summer! :) Speaking of which I have quite a busy summer. The children's minister at my church offered me the chance for a summer internship. I accepted and am already busy working. I am enjoying this opportunity and learning tons from it.

Tuesday I had the chance to go to a staff meeting. When you read that your reaction is probably the same as mine was: "Oh joy, a meeting...". Well, I was surprised in what I learned there. I learned more than what the meeting was on and what we discussed, I learned something bigger and more profound.

Our senior pastor Dr. Davis Chappell opened up with a devotion. He absolutely amazed me. Some ministers are one person in the pulpit and a COMPLETELY different person the rest of the week. Davis is NOTHING like this. He is consistant and is always the same. When I was watching I was simply amazed. Don't get me wrong, I expected and knew him to always be the same person, but seeing it like that is so incredible. It was inspiring to me and I want to be like that someday. I would like to go into the ministry, maybe not a senior pastor, but I want to be just as consistant as he is.

Also they have recently purchased a laptop which I am learning to use and making different booklet type things on it. This is giving me the chance to do 3 things I love:
1. Computer designing (fonts, page layouts, etc)
2. Write
3. Point others toward Christ
Most of the things in the booklet have already been at least roughly drawn out, but it's still neat to be able to have this chance. Although this has required lots of brains and energy, I have so far thoroughly enjoyed this experience and I can't wait to see what God has to teach me in the future!

I do have a life outside church though which so far I have not really addressed. I have to do summer reading for school. :/ Okay, I am excited about reading the books ("Screwtape Letters" and "Frankenstien"), but not so much about journaling and annotating them. Yuck. Oh well, I have to do it! Also, Friday the 19th was the 6th month celebration of my boyfriend and me dating. :) We weren't actually able to see each other, but we Tuesday we went to Red Lobster which we both enjoyed.
Well, it is almost midnight and I am SO TIRED. So goodnight!

Prayer needed

Please be praying for my great aunt ann, her brother, Sonny (my gpa) and my mom. Ann was recently diagnosed with lung cancer, but they were able to remove that through surgery. As of yesterday, she saw recovering from that well and everything seemed to be go smoothly, but then the doctors found out that part of her colon died and they went into surgery this morning. Please pray for my aunt to recover by God's hand, my grandfather to have wisdom about what to do for my mom to also have wisdom and strength.
I know that God has the power to heal. Please pray that his healing hand will be upon her and we can see him through this hard time.
Thank You.

NYC, baby!

And then strep throat. :/ But will start with NYC because it's much more interesting. :)
The PCA band left for NYC on Saturday 2 o'clock. We travelled on a bus for 16.5 hours which put us at the hotel at about 6:30. You should have seen us, we were like a bunch of zombies. We were (thankfully) forced to sleep (or at least be quiet) at 11, but sleeping on a bus means you mean get a couple of hours because it's not the most comfortable thing in the world. haha. So, yeah. It took me 2 hours to wake. My boyfriend was funny, he'd walk over to me ever 30 mins or so and say, "Are you awake yet?" Usually my answer was no and he'd walk away and come back later. haha. He's quite a morning person.
So after we had breakfast at the hotel and changed from our comfy clothes to our day clothes we got back on the bus and headed toward Ellis Island on a fairy (very cold). The museum there was amazing. I would highly recommend it if you ever go up there. It was interesting and sad to see how the immigrants we treated and learning all that went on there.
Then, we got back on the boat to go meet Lady Liberty. We didn't go up in the statue, but it was so incredible to actually SEE it so close!! After we were done there we headed back to NYC off the boat! (so cold on the boat, except in the covered part. haha) Then we were able to split up into groups and walk around for a little while. That was fun too. :) That's a basic summer of the first day, Thursday.
I need to go do make up work (since I'm not in school), but I will finish typing this later!! :)

6 Random Things

Random is such a wide word....
It can mean out of the blue, or it can mean something no-one knows about you. I will do 3 of each simply because I want too. :)
1) I used to play guitar and I want to start playing it more again. (I've started teaching myself new chords! :) )
2)I feel naked without a watch on my left arm.
3) I think that Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers (some people at school call them the "Joho's" haha) have taken over the world and can't sing. (Mainly the JoHo's.)
4) I'm drinking hot chocolate right now.
5) School starts in 28 minutes.
6) I have math first period today and history last.

Not only is it Valentine's Day...

But it's Leaving-For-New-York Day! :) The band from my school is going on a trip to New York. We leave today and come back Wednesday, the 18th. We're going to see Phantom of the Opera, Blue Man Group and all sorts of other cool stuff. I'm super excited. We leave at 2:30. Please pray for safe travels and for no-one to get sick or hurt. Last year my band director got so stressed she made herself really sick (typical musician ;) ). Fortunately for all us students, we are out of school on Monday and Tuesday and so we're only missing Wednesday which is a block day. (Normally we have 7 classes each day, but Wed and Thur we divide them up- 3 on Wed and 4 on Thur) So, we're not missing all our classes. Yay!
Well I'm hoping to leave seen because we have to meet at the school at 1:30 so I'm going to get off here and get ready to hit the road.
*sings, "On the road again, I just can't wait to get on the road again..."*

Fun with the Flu

....not. So I left for JanFest (High School January Band Festival at UGA) on Thursday with 8 other band nerds and a director. We were all so excited about this trip. Not only is it a great learning experience, but it's a fun thing to do, too. Unfortunately, on Friday in the afternoon I started feeling sick and within 24 hours I was having all the flu symptoms and my mom came to pick me up from UGA. :( Then we called our doctor and he said, "Yes, that sounds like the flu." and prescribed us tamiflu and me some major pain meds. They seem to be working pretty well right now for me. I was also supposed to go on a date with my boyfriend on Monday to celebrate our 1 month, but I don't think that's going to end up happening either. :/ But I guess I can just pray and hope for the best. Oh, and homecoming is in 1 week.
Good news from this weekend: I did not make last chair at JanFest! :) I was 3rd out of 4 oboes, but at least it wasn't last. I like to call myself the Principal second part which is a fancy way of saying the highest ranked person on the 2nd part. (There's only 2 parts though, haha.) And for the day that I was in practice, I actually liked my director. (Although I think he... um.. isn't sure of his.. uh... manhood) He was very good at getting his point across.
Hopefully I will feel better soon. Prayers would be appreciated. :) Hasta luego!

Bible teacher AND AN Elvis impersonator

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWB9OxqeGP8

I'm having issues with youtube right now, but watch that video. It's my Bible teacher from the previous post. :)

2009

woo! it's been 2009 for 8 days now! I haven't posted on this thing since LAST YEAR! ........ yeah, that was bad.

Anywho, so I thought to myself at the beginning of Christmas, "Well gee, self, now that I have a break from school I can post more on my blog! Yes!" How many days did I post?
one.
yup, just one. But hey at least I'm posting now. :) We've started our 2nd semester at school and its been great so far. My classes are good and I think its going to be a fun semester. This semester my Bible class is Apocalyptic Literature which is a study of books like Revelation, Daniel and Ezekiel. My favorite Bible teacher is teaching which makes it even better. This teacher can make the Bible come to life out of the pages. He is absolutely amazing.
He's also an Elvis impersonator... :) I'm going to post a video in a second.

Oh my gosh! We just got a package with HUGE BUBBLE WRAP! My and my brother popped them. That was so much fun! and noisy! haha
